Inherent advantages of the toroidal (ring, donut shaped core) transformer, relative to other core configurations:
- nearly ideal magnetic circuit, which results in
- lower stray magnetic field
- less volume and weight
- less audible hum
- higher efficiency (perfect for stray magnetic field sensitive circuitry)
